Free online March 14 to 21, 2023: Microbes and Mental Health Summit
Our state of Mississippi has long struggled to provide help for its mentally ill. To the point of federal intervention (here). Nationally, 50% of Americans are diagnosed with a mental illness at some point in their lifetime (CDC data here). The need to understand what is happening, why the human brain is malfunctioning, is huge.
Mainstream medicine acknowledges multiple causes of mental illness, and the CDC lists them as trauma, chronic disease, chemical imbalances, drugs and alcohol, and loneliness. (CDC here)
Out on Medicine’s New Frontier (post here), however, awareness of the gut-brain connection has produced new strategies and therapies that can repair mental malfunction. Functional, integrative, and holistic medicine practitioners are increasingly able to offer help.
Dementia and Alzheimer’s were covered in a previous post (here).
The above summit focuses on pathogens, microbes, toxins and more through interviews with dozens of practitioners and experts. Knowing ‘root causes’ and having access to the therapies that can change them, offers real hope for sufferers of mental illness.
